Difficult Conversations
Practise words, listening, and decisions when a clinical situation is sensitive and dialogue can change its course.
01 / The approach
Explaining diagnostic uncertainty, sharing a decision, breaking difficult news, or responding to a concerned family member takes more than a script. Patients, families, and colleagues respond differently to what is said, its tone, and its timing.
Healthcare Conversations puts professionals in dialogue with virtual counterparts who respond to their choices. Scenarios can be repeated in different languages, with objectives and feedback defined with the institution.
02 / How it works
Enter the situation
Choose a care context: informed consent, diagnostic explanation, escalation, coordination, or an emotionally demanding conversation.
Speak and listen
Interact in natural language with a patient, relative, or colleague. The virtual counterpart responds to questions, clarity, and relationship management.
Review the exchange
Examine the transcript and rubric-based feedback; repeat the conversation, including in the language configured for the scenario.
03 / What to observe
Clarity and structure of explanations
Listening, empathy, and emotional response
Handling questions, objections, and conflict
Language and cultural awareness where configured
04 / A concrete example
Healthcare Conversations
This Conversation Mastery programme for healthcare combines simulated counterparts, multilingual scenarios, and feedback on communication skills. Depending on configuration, it can run in a browser, on mobile devices, or in immersive environments. For high-stakes assessment, automated rubrics and results require validation and human oversight.
05 / How to tailor it
Physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, and teams can practise individually or with a facilitator. The institution selects language, role, level, scenarios, rubrics, and how results are used.
